Amrut Raw Cask Sherry Cask, 62,3% (Blackadder)
It’s time to taste something from outside Europe and we have come to a distillery from India, Amrut. This Amrut it bottled by the independent bottler Blackadder for their Raw Cask range. It’s a no age statement, that’s completely natural, straight from a single cask. No chill-filtration, no added colours and cask strength. It even contains some sediments from the cask and they only used a small filter to avoid splinters of wood from the cask when they bottled it. This Amrut is matured for X years in a sherry cask before it’s bottled at 62,3% ABV and 236 bottle available.
Sweet sherry notes togethe with vanilla, almonds, cherries, citrus and apple.
Sweet vanilla with a twist of citrus, together with some raisins, almonds and even a bit chocolate.
Long and sweet with a lovely creaminess. Hints of toffee and vanilla.
I really enjoyed tasting this Amrut and I found it to be very gentle to be bottled at +60% ABV. It has a great nose, lovely palate and a unforgettable finish.
