Bruichladdich The Laddie Eight
The Laddie Eight is a new whisky that was released in April, exclusively for travel retail. On April 14 there was a tasting on Twitter with the ‘World Duty Free’ to which I been invited to participate in. In addition to the 8-year-old whiskey we also tasted a Port Charlotte, which I will talk about in a separate post. What is most exciting about this whisky is that in addition to being bottled at 50% ABV and have their age visible, which feels very great and unusual to be a whisky on the duty-free market and eight years does not feel too much, but we will soon find out.
A lovely aromas of Granny Smith apples with a nice mix of vanilla, orange and nuts.
A creamy flavour of vanilla and honey mixed with tones of orange, grass and pepper.
An appropriate length (average) with flavours of sweet vanilla and honey that ends with a fresh touch of ginger.
Despite the young age, I think it delivers really good and feels both pleasant and more aggressive than the 10-year-old, which probably depends on the age, and the alcoholic strength. With a price of £ 45 it feels very affordable and a worthy Laddie.
