Mackmyra Midnattssol, 46,1%
Midnattssol is the second release after Midvinter in their new limited range. It’s a summer whisky and I can tell that you will notice it on the flavours. The combination of American and Swedish oak, sherry and bourbon casks together with a final maturation in casks that previously held Swedish birch wine. It’s bottled at 46,1% ABV and available on the Swedish ‘Systembolaget’, May 2.
Intense, fruity with notes of chocolate, vanilla, toffee and some wonderful spiciness.
Sweet and creamy with green apples, lemons and vanilla notes, all together with hints of chocolate and oak spices.
I would say it’s something between medium and long finish with herbal notes, a light fruitiness and some spices and oak notes.
Summer’s finally here ! This is truly a summer dram for me with it’s fruity notes, together with the vanilla and toffee. It’s actually the best whisky I’ve tasted from Mackmyra so far. (Private casks not included) And to be honest I haven’t tasted to much from them. (Shame on me) But that will change for sure, back to this Midnattssol again. If you haven’t tried it yet, try it if you can, it’s delicious. I promise.
