The Glenlivet Archive 21 Years Old
The Glenlivet Archive 21 Years Old breathe quality and luxury from the first moment. Bottled at 43 % ABV, this 21 year old Glenlivet comes in an elegant and clever packaging that consists of a oak box that easily slid into its case. Furthermore the whisky consists of selected handpicked casks bottled in batches, which means that the possibility of differences should exist between different batch numbers. The batch we tried is 0711H.
First time we stand down the nose, we can immediately get acquainted with a fruity aroma, along with various different spicy tones, like a touch of cinnamon and clove. We are also aware of certain notes of wood and vanilla.
The taste is just as we felt the scent. We know this for a clearer fruitiness, which I am happy to find pears of all fruits, even a little sweeter tones of citrus. The long maturation makes itself felt happy and I would think that the whisky feels a bit oily when you let it roll around in your mouth.
It is a long and powerful taste with a warm feeling that remains, even tones of little sweeter fruits arrive.
This is a really nice whisky and very well suited in a comfortable armchair with a good book by the fire. The whisky is as elegant as the box it comes in and it performed exactly what we expected.
